The Zwaanendael Museum explores the fascinating and colorful history of the social, military, and maritime aspects of the town. The building's facade is built to emulate the town of Hoorn, in the Netherlands, commemorating the city's history as the first Dutch settlement in America. The museum is located in the city center, along the canal.
